Enjoy the documentary ‘Peru, hidden treasure’ on Netflix

Peru is a country full of traditions, customs, and dazzling landscapes that surprise the entire world. All that cultural and geographical wealth has been staged, thanks to the documentary film Peru, hidden treasure, which is available on Netflix.

With a duration of 80 minutes and under the direction of the Uruguayan filmmaker Luis Ara, the production shows a tour of the Amazon, the Andes, and the Peruvian coast, where you can see destinations such as Machu Picchu, the Colca CanyonLake Titicaca, the Nasca LinesKuelap, the Amazon River; besides the flora, fauna and the renowned Peruvian gastronomy.

“Filming was exciting. Each of the places we visited had its charm. The coast, its incredible beaches, the sunset in the desert, sailing on the Marañón River, meeting people from all corners of Peru, the archaeological sites where one feels that travels through time. It has been an unforgettable experience that we want to share with the world”, commented Ara Hermida.

Filming process
All began in 2016 when Ara and his production team started an extensive trip to the interior of Peru to obtain the material. “We went in search of nature and that has made the film end up being a visual, sound, and sensory journey, where music has a lot to do with it,” added the Uruguayan filmmaker.

In a trip that lasted around eight months, Luis managed not only to collect images that show the beauty that hides in Peru, but he was able to experience beautiful moments that nature gave him. “A sunset in the desert is something that took my breath away, with that moment when the sun falls and you only see dunes around and you begin to feel the immensity of the dome of the sky above”, he recalled.

About the documentary film
Peru, hidden treasure presents the story of a surfer, a family from Lake Titicaca, a shaman from the Peruvian Amazon, and the Nikkei chef Mitsuharu Tsumura – whose restaurant called Maido was recently considered the best in Latin America – but always with nature, landscapes and geography as protagonists.

“The attraction here is diversity. Machu Picchu and Cusco are incredible, but Peru is not just that. The documentary is a way of showing the world a part of Latin America and saying ‘this is how beautiful our places are and that is how proud we are of them’”, said Ara.

Do not miss the opportunity to enjoy this documentary that shows the best-known natural places in Peru and those that have not yet been discovered by world tourism, in addition to knowing one of the richest culinary cultures in the world and the legacy that still remains of the civilizations that inhabited this South American country over time.
