Safe Travels: 6 Peruvian destinations with this seal of approval

The return to tourism is gradual but increasingly encouraging. And how can we not be hopeful, when there are more and more destinations in Peru where you can be sure that travelling is totally feasible. You can travel around the Inca country with the safety and healthiness that comes with the Safe Travels seal, a global award given to some destinations in Peru.

On the coast

To the north, you can relax on the lush beaches of Piura. Máncora, El Amor, Las Pocitas, Los Órganos, Vichayito, Punta Veleros and Cabo Blanco are the oases of crystalline waters that will welcome you with open doors so that you can holiday without health complications. Meanwhile, in Lima, the Peruvian capital, you can plan your holidays in the Miraflores district, which has an enviable range of activities: you can practice water sports, visit the beautiful and diverse parks in the area or plan a day’s shopping – for handicrafts as well as fashion and technology items – with a wide range of restaurants and hotels at your disposal.

In the highlands

Cusco had to be on this selection of safe destinations. In the imperial city, you can stay in the city centre without any problems. From there, you can plan your visit to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, to discover villages that seem something out of a time machine, since they still engage in age-old activities, just as their ancestors did. You can also take a trip to the most visited tourist destination in the country, Machu Picchu, where sanitary restrictions are strictly enforced so that all visitors can visit the historic sanctuary without any worries. For a more unconventional adventure, head to Ayacucho to visit the natural pools of Millpu, the Wari Archaeological Complex or the Pampa de Ayacucho historic sanctuary.

In the Peruvian Amazon

Want to get away from the city and venture into the warmth of the Peruvian Amazon? Now it’s possible! In the San Martín region, you can visit the cities of Tarapoto and Alto Mayo, which have been Safe Travels certified since December 2020. You can also visit Loreto, which recently (April 22, 2021) received the seal of approval. Destinations such as the city of Iquitos, the Amazon River and the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve all have safety protocols to ensure your peace of mind during your stay.

What is Safe Travels?

It is a distinction, in the form of a seal, which is awarded to locations that comply with a set of protocols designed by the World Health Organization (WHO) to clearly set out which destinations follow a general health policy in the tourism industry. By seeing the Safe Travels seal, tourist can therefore be confident about making the trip and increase tourism activity worldwide.
